Sariska Tiger Reserve — a self drive trip from Alwar

Morning safaris in the Aravallis. Keep the car ready for an early start.

Sariska Tiger Reserve

At a glance

Sariska is one of Rajasthan’s best-known tiger reserves, set in dry Aravalli forest less than an hour from Alwar. Alongside tigers it shelters leopards, sambar, nilgai, spotted deer, jungle cats and hundreds of bird species.

You drive yourself to the reserve gate and go into the forest on an official safari vehicle. Safaris are booked through the Rajasthan Forest Department, and core zones usually close during the monsoon (roughly July to September). Rules for private vehicles inside the reserve change, so check the official booking site before you travel.
