Bhangarh Fort — a self drive trip from Alwar

Rajasthan’s most talked-about ruins, through Sariska’s hill roads.

Bhangarh Fort

At a glance

Bhangarh is a late-16th-century fortified town at the foot of the Aravallis, now in ruins and protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. Its bazaar street, temples and hillside palace make it one of the most atmospheric heritage sites in Rajasthan — and the legends around it make it one of the most famous.

The ASI does not allow entry before sunrise or after sunset, so plan a daytime visit. The drive from Alwar through the Sariska and Thanagazi side is part of the experience.
